The 20-item instrument they developed measured four dimensions of OCB: interpersonal helping, individual initiative, personal industry and loyal boosterism. Personal industry referred to lack of absenteeism and high quality and timeliness of work, and loyal boosterism related to expressing pride of the organization and promoting and defending the organization. Their model included interpersonal helping (helping coworkers), individual initiative (communicating with others to help others improve performance), personal industry (performing tasks above those required), and loyal boosterism (promoting the organization to outsiders). Specifically, they found correlations between collectivism and interpersonal helping, individual initiative, and loyal boosterism. The authors noted that while three of the four OCB dimensions they measured (interpersonal helping, individual initiative and loyal boosterism) were predicted by collectivism, personal industry, "which describes the performance of an employee's specific tasks above and beyond the call of duty" (Moorman & Blakely, 1995, p. 138) did not.
